I first travelled regularly to Bellagio and the central lake while living in Italy, and continued coming back after moving abroad in 2012, in summer, but also outside the main season. I know the lake both as a traveler and as someone who has developed a long personal connection with it: the ferries, the boats, the villages, the mountain roads and the feeling of being remarkably close to Milan while somehow in a completely different world.
